| Image © 2010 Will Nunnally Photography || (A Coruña, Spain - May 4, 2010) - Under the light of the Tower of Hercules, Galicia Black Towers defensive end Daniel "Pati" Patiño Gomez runs sprints during a late season practice. The team splits time between A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela about 30 minutes away by car because there aren't enough players in either city to form separate teams. As a result the eight or so members from A Coruña practice every Tuesday night in A Coruña, doing mostly tackling and conditioning drills and then meet up with the rest of the team in Santiago on Saturdays practice.
The Black Towers are the only American football team in Northwest Spain. They played their first competitive season last year in the Portuguese league and hope their sport will catch on in the region. |

I followed the Galicia Black Towers, an American football team in northwest Spain, for their first competitive season in the Liga Portuguesa. They finished the year 5-4 and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Oporto Lumberjacks. You can view the audio slideshow at: http://www.willnunnallyphotography.com/multimedia/bt/index.html.
