This update:
Solon (Iowa) High School had undefeated seasons and state championships in both football and basketball during the 2008-2009 school year. They entered the Iowa 2A state championships in baseball this past week as the #1 seed and a chance to make history as the first Iowa high school in any class to win football, basketball and baseball championships in the same year.
After a quarterfinal victory, the Spartans run towards history ended when Ft. Dodge St. Edmond outlasted them in a nine inning thriller, 8-4. This update contains photos from this game, played at the Iowa Cubs' Principal Park in Des Moines.
St. Edmond went on to win the state title today over Dyersville Beckman 11-8.
