Reed Hoffmann works at the 2002 Eco-Challenge in Fiji on October 11, 2002.
I have some bad news ... and some GREAT news.

First the bad: Adobe Systems could not provide the Sports Shooter Workshop & Luau with a suitable instructor for our scheduled "Photoshop Tips and Tricks" breakout sessions ... the great news is that Reed Hoffmann has agreed to join the faculty!

Like a baseball team gearing up for the stretch drive ... the Workshop & Luau turned to Reed to help us out by pinch hitting for our Photoshop breakouts.

Reed was a an award-winning newspaper photographer for over 20 years and helped guide the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle's conversion to all-digital in early 1997. It was one of the first U.S. newspapers to fully make the digital conversion.

From there, Reed embarked on a freelance career and mixed in consulting work on digital photography. He has helped numerous publications and companies throughout the U.S. and Asia and is also a partner in Blue Pixel, a company that assists corporations with digital conversions and workflow.

Reed Hoffmann shows local children his photos on his Powerbook while working at the 2002 Eco-Challenge in Fiji in 2002.
Reed has also been involved for several years with the Eco-Challenge, traveling the world covering this event as one of the official photographers along side shooters like Corey Rich (another instructor at this year's Workshop & Luau) and Sports Illustrated's Porter Binks.

Reed also is involved teaching through the Nikon School of Photography and has lectured at workshops like the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar, the Northern Short Course and the American Photo Mentor Series.

If you have not heard Reed's talks before, his sessions are a fabulous mix of insightful knowledge, practical solutions, simplifying the complicated ... with a dash of high-tech, wiz-bang tips and just plain fun! (Fun making Reed a perfect fit for the Workshop & Luau!)

The Photoshop Tips & Tricks class is just one of 15 different breakout sessions being offered at this year's Sports Shooter Workshop & Luau. The annual event is sponsored by Nikon and is being held at the Manhattan Beach Marriott Hotel Nov. 7 - 8.

There is still space left in this year's Workshop & Luau. Details and registration information are available in the Workshop area of SportsShooter.com.
