Brooks Visual Journalism Students Support a Good Cause with their Photography
Students Frank Bott and Morgan Collini sell their photography in a gallery show/fundraiser in Seattle, WA.
By Inge B. Kautzmann, Brooks Institute of Photography
Visual Journalism students Frank Bott and Morgan Collini are just 8 months into their program of study at Brooks Institute and are already making money from their photography to help out a very worthy cause, the Capitol Hill Community Lunch Program, in Seattle, WA.
For nearly twenty years, the Capitol Hill Community Lunch Program has served hot lunches on Capital Hill, serving around 170 – 250 homeless and transitional people per meal. This meal program is a critical service provided on Capitol Hill, and one of the only “no strings” lunches in the city where all are welcome (you don’t have to fit any criteria to receive a meal). With meals prepared and served by volunteers from every corner of the Puget Sound area, on real plates and real silverware, this unique lunch offers a “home-cooked” meal in a welcoming, community environment.
The fund raising event will be held at the Metropolitan Tower (1942 Westlake Ave, Seattle, WA) on February 8 on the 8th floor. Frank and Morgan will be selling their photographs which range in subject matter from Fine Art, to Journalism, to Nature. Guests will have an opportunity to meet the artists and purchase selected works – as well as chat with volunteers and coordinators of the Community Lunch Program.
“You have GREAT students at Brooks. We are so excited about the show and Frank and Morgan have gone above and beyond in helping pull together the event”, says organizer, David Erickson.
Artwork will be for sale at special prices which cover cost/materials of the artwork, plus a donation to the Capitol Hill Community Lunch Program. For more information on the event and to view examples of the artists work, visit http://www.theseattleshow.org
