Rumors Continue on New Digital Camera
By Robert Hanashiro
Nearly a year after Kodak and Canon announced the DCS520/D2000 digital cameras, rumors have been flying around the web on a Nikon-platform digital body.
With the NC2000e the only Nikon-based digital camera (4-year-old technology!) currently available for sports and photojournalism work, word of the DCS620 appears to be welcome relief for those that have been holding out converting to Canon.
If reports out of Europe and Asia are true, the new DCS620 will utilized a proprietary JPEG file which may offer faster shooting speeds and will be based on Nikon's F5 camera body.
Sources at the Ap have indicated that they will be using the DCS620 sometime in January and that Kodak will make an official announcement at the end of January at the Super Bowl in Miami, FLA.
It also appears that Kodak's version of the camera will be the only one made and that Nikon will not market a similar camera a la the D2000. Does his mean Nikon has something up their sleeve for the digital market?
