Nikon Announces New Camera
By Robert Hanashiro
Nikon recently announced a new camera, the F100, referred by some as the "F5 lite" or "F5 junior."
Coming just two years after the F5, the F100 appears to fit between the N90s and the high end, F5. Street price around $800-900 less than the F5, this should be a great "second camera" behind the F5 in a sports shooter's arsenal.
Some of the features include:
- a new 10-segment matrix metering sensor
- new superimposed red LED over selected focus area on B and E screens
- 5 frames per second with the optional MB-15 Pack (4.5 frames per second for the F100 body alone)
- the same 5-segment TTL flash sensor and 3D Automatic Balanced Fill-Flash as F5
- three light meters (3D matrix, center-weighted and 5 area spot metering)
- auto film rewind at the end of film roll - 22 built-in custom settings
