- Oakland Tribune staff photographer Dino Vournas is the newest addition to the Mangin Photography website Guest Gallery at www.manginphotography.com
Dino has been photographing skiing and snow-related scenes throughout Europe and North America since the early 1970's. He has put together a wonderful collection of some of his favorite winter pictures for everyone to enjoy.

- Bob Deutsch passes along a great website for those flying on United. Go to http://www.ual.com/site/primary/0,10017,1127,00.html and you can get text notification on delayed and cancelled flights sent to your digital pager or cellphone. The service is easy to use and is FREE!
- U.S.-based reporters at Reuters have begun a 12-day byline strike to protest the company's stance on negotiations for a contract to replace one that expired February 1998. Some photographers also will withhold credits until Feb. 25.
The Associated Press also staged a byline strike recently to protest stalled contact negotiations.
