TRI-X CONTEST WINNER - Sponsored by Think Tank Photo
By Scott A. Schneider

Tri -X Remembered
Several months back we published a tribute to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Tri-X. As part of that tribute, we held a "pop-up contest" asking Sports Shooter members and Sports Shooter Academy alums to submit an image captured on Tri-X and write a short remembrance about the images and this iconic film.

Thanks to Roberts Distributors, Adorama and Think Tank Photo for supporting this first "pop-up contest".

Popeye was one of the attractions at the Minnesota State Fair's midway. The show was the "Royal Family of Strange People," as noted on the banner behind Popeye and the barker, though the show was commonly referred to "the freak show," since it was pre-politically correct time.

This photo was taken in 1974 and I've always liked it; it was never published. Taken with a Nikon F and 24mm lens and metered with a Sekonic Studio Deluxe (my Nikon had the pentaprism only, no light meter therein).

(Thanks to Think Tank Photo and Brian Erwin for sponsoring this award.)
