Renovations at Dodger Stadium Eliminates Photo Positions
By Robert Hanashiro
Renovations at Dodger Stadium begin September 27 for the installation of new ground level luxury suites. Current plans will eliminate both the inside first and inside third base shooting positions.
Also, the large outside first and third wells will be replaced by temporary seating that will be used during all non-day games, which now days means every game! So Fox, the relatively new owner of the Dodgers, will have taken one of Major League Baseball's BEST stadiums for shooting positions and make it into one of the WORST.
Dodgers' team photographer Jon Soohoo is trying to set up a meeting with local newspapers, wires and magazines and stadium renovations director Fred Coons on either Oct. 5 or 6 at 10am. I urge all Southern California media to contact Jon and attend this proposed meeting with the Dodgers.
I cannot stress how important it is for us to make ourselves heard and voice our concerns to the Dodgers. (I suspect that Fox isn't cutting back on the space given to the print, radio and TV yaks working in the comfort of the pressbox. So why should we again be relegated to second-class citizen status?)
Jon can be reached at: (626)799-0445 home office or email at: soohoo@dodgers.com
