Publishing YOUR book is tough… and it is getting tougher all the time.
Photographer Randy Leffingwell says book publishing is similar to the motion picture industry: You have to prove yourself before they will trust your ideas. Actors and directors do OTHER peoples' movies for years - THEN they get a chance to do a personal project. The way to do the book YOU want to do is to do several of the books THEY want you to do first. With 39 books under his belt (37 of which are still in print) Leffingwell knows this process and will share it with us.

The View from the Orient: Hong Kong, China and More
As China rises as a major world power, more and more photographers are looking for ways to understand this part of the world. Beijing and Hong Kong-based David McIntyre is a former Californian who moved to the Far East 12 years ago. He covered the reclaiming of Hong Kong by China and has continued to cover the region for the Black Star photo agency, Time, Newsweek, Business Week, Forbes, USA Today and the Chicago Tribune. Among his commercial clients are American Express, Lucent Technology, and Cathay Pacific Airways. While on a three-month assignment for Stern Magazine, McIntyre documented the hostage crisis in Jolo, Philippines. He also was granted close access to Libyan leader Muammar Khadafi for a rare interview, while on assignment for Time Atlantic Magazine.
