The Sports Shooter Commuter Short Course on-line registration site is now closed because the event has filled all of the available seats for the breakout class offerings.
"This is simply amazing," said Sports Shooter founder and workshop organizer Robert Hanashiro. "In just two weeks we have filled this fabulous educational event. This is something that not even the Workshop & Luaus did."
Registration for the Commuter Short Course opened Aug. 13, 2005 and in just the first day over 120 on-line forms were received. The event will be held Nov 4 - 5, 2005 in Ventura, California on the campus of Brooks Institute of Photography and the Ventura Holiday Inn.
"Because of classroom space for the breakouts we are limited in the number of people we can seat for certain sessions," Hanashiro said, "So it has forced me to close registration at this time. It is truly amazing the number of photographers and students that are interested in this event and even though it is not the Workshop & Luau it will be fun, cool, inspiring and educational."
The Sports Shooter Commuter Short Course is being funded through a trade show feature Canon and Nikon. Because of their involvement in this trade show, Sports Shooter was able to make this event free.
Jack Gruber from USA TODAY and Deanne Fitzmaurice and Kathleen Hennessy from the San Francisco Chronicle are the featured speakers at this workshop.
Besides the presentations by the featured speakers there are six different breakout topics, portfolio reviews and classes put on by both Nikon and Canon.
"I'd like to thank Brooks, Canon and Nikon for making this event possible. We came up with the idea of putting on a fall educational event at the very last minute and all three of theses organizations stepped up to the plate and immediately said they wanted to be involved," Hanashiro said. "It's only because of them that we were able to make this event free," he added.
