Travel Tales
By Paul Kitagaki / Portland Oregonian

My worst travel story is the time I worked at the San Jose Mercury News and Mike Rondou, Jose Villegas and I covered a baseball playoff game in St. Louis.

We shipped the Nikon 600 f4 in the Nikon silver "shipping case" ...the lens was lost during the travel and arrived late at the hotel that night. The corner of the case was broken and when we opened the case the lens was toast!

Moral of the story: get a better case to ship the lens (and do NOT use the cases the lenses are sold in). At the time there was only Halliburtons and Cabbage Cases.
