The latest batch of SportsShooter.com upgrades
New, improved, cooler, better, and tasty too.
By Grover Sanschagrin, SportsShooter.com
The SportsShooter.com Marketing Department has been hard at work keeping up with all the latest trends and fads. With their finger on the pulse of civilization as we know it, we trust that they will guide us in the right direction, and make us all mega-filthy-stinkin-rich.
Their latest idea involves the changing of our official tag-line from "The Online Resource For Sports Photography" to "100% Carb Free!"
I'm not so sure about that.
Now, if there's one thing my momma taught me, aside from the fact that the 'I am just holding them for a friend' excuse doesn't work, is that you should only talk about things which you are sure of.
So, with that in mind, let's get on with the REAL reason for my writing this damn thing.
It is now time to announce the latest batch of improvements, upgrades, updates, overhauls, and expansions to SportsShooter.com - all of which, I am told by medical experts, are 100% carb free and dammit, they taste great too.
"Hidden Galleries"
This area of the site has been expanded and improved in three (3) low carb ways.
1) You can now have 10 hidden galleries. The decision to double the amount of hidden galleries per member was made after we saw that a lot of you filled up all five of your available slots, and hey, we've got some disk space, so, why not?
Counting carbs? Let me help you out with the math.
-: Images per hidden gallery = 20.
-: Number of hidden galleries = 10.
-: Number of images on a member page = 10.
-: 20 x 10 + 10 = 210 images!
(A special "shout out" to all those people who put those 'extra-special' hidden galleries together just for us admin people to see. I think I can now say that we've seen it all the good, the bad, the 'what in the hell is that', and we thank you for that. In case you ever wondered, the answer is "Yes, we can see everything.")
2) Hidden Galleries are only 'hidden' if you want them to be. Another thing we noticed: People were pasting links to their hidden galleries in their bio area.. You crazy kids!
You don't have to resort to such wild antics anymore. Just click the "Make Public" link associated with any hidden gallery (found in the member's area after you log in.) Once you click "Make Public" a link to that gallery can be found on your member page. Presto. (That means "Like magic!")
And I'm not talking about those three external link spaces available near the bottom of your member page. These are in addition to them. (No foolin'!)
3) Improved the look of the galleries. We made them look better. Just go create one and see!
However, the change in their appearance doesn't apply to the hidden galleries created before, using the old tool. In order to get those into the new format, you'll need to recreate them.
"Work History"
This is a new feature we just implemented that allows you to enter a basic employment history, and have that information appear inside your member page. You can enter internships, full-time, part-time, freelance, contract, or assisting jobs in this area.
Filling this area out will help to give potential clients another set of information about you, and will help them understand the experience you've got beyond the images you show.
Those of you who take the time to enter internships will notice that there's a few extra steps, and there's a reason for that. We are almost finished with the SportsShooter.com Internship Guide, and the information you enter here will be used in that new section.
In order for you to add to this list, your employer must be in The Guide already. If it isn't, have no fear... you can add it to The Guide yourself.
Help us build the biggest and best carb free directory of photo internships in the world by entering yours. Ok? Good.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm late for another big and important high level multi-million-dollar SportsShooter.com marketing meeting where we plan how we are going to get the SportsShooter logo into the Super Bowl halftime show next year.
Grover Sanschagrin owns and operates a tin foil hat that has a SportsShooter logo on it.
