Editorial to Advertising – An Eye-Opening Journey to the (Commercial) Dark Side
Corey Rich is known as an outdoor and adventure photographer. In a young career his work has appeared in many climbing and adventure magazines. He has covered several Eco-Challenge events and a marathon across the Sahara. Recently Mr. Rich did his first major advertising assignment for XXX XXXX – a major beer company. He learned lot due to screw-ups, massive egos, and last minute changes. On this occasion Mr. Rich will concentrate on what to do — and what NOT to do — on that first big time advertising assignment.
Speaker #2 – Wednesday, November 12, 2003 – Holy Cross School, at the mission in downtown Ventura
Hotspots and Hell Holes — Around the World as a Photojournalist
Photographer David Burnett has been everywhere when conditions were hottest. He covered Iran when the country turned on the U. S. In times of war or crises, Burnett has been to Vietnam, Chile and Ethiopia. He covered Cuban escapee Elian Gonzalez and was in Berlin when the wall fell. He has covered many presidents and presidential campaigns, several Olympic Games and Monica Lewinsky. He co-founded the photo agency Contact Press Images and has won the Robert Capa award and the Magazine Photographer of the year title.
Burnett’s presentation will be held in conjunction with a 50-print show on the Brooks Institute Ventura campus.
