From The Razor
By Gary Bogdon, Orlando Sentinel

Last month I was shooting portraits for our Pre-Season football sections of The Orlando Sentinel. Shot Bucs Warren Sapp/with Warrick Dunn, FSU's QB Chris Weinke, and several high school players, but most interesting one was Univ. of Central Florida QB, Daunte Culpepper. I decided since he was in his senior year at UCF, (The Golden Knights) and this was his golden moment being touted as a legit Heisman Trophy candidate and and Top NFL draft pick after college, that for his portrait I would paint his entire body, (he of course would be wearing football pants).

Gold. In this day of college and pro athletes, he was a real pleasure to work with, and such a change from most of the 'types' we have our 10 minutes to photograph. I hired a professional make-up artist to do the painting, in our studio, which took about 1 hour to do. He was amazed at how involved the session was, (saying, I didn't realize what I was getting myself into), but was great to work with, as long as... "this paint does come off real easy, right".... Of course, I told him it does, (not actually knowing myself, but trusting the make-up artist). After the shoot, he went into the newspaper workout facility and showered off, and yelled out to me, "Hey.... (I was shaking in my shoes, awaiting the answer) this stuff comes off pretty easy!" .... Thank God!
