Yankees lose...thuuuhhh Yankees lose!
Sports Shooters from all over head home after Marlins win in six
By Brad Mangin, SportsShooter.com

The legends gather in Miami prior to Game 3: Mickey Palmer, Johnny Iacono, Chuck Solomon and Al Tielemans.

The 2003 World Series between the Yankees and Marlins is all over after the Marlins defeated the Yankees 2-0 Saturday night in Game 6 behind the phenominal pitching of 23-year-old starting pitcher Josh Beckett.
The good news is most shooters got their Marlins press pins in Miami, although many are still waiting to get their hands on the elusive Yankee hardware.
After two lackluster games in The Bronx all of the photographers covering the Series were hoping for better action once things started back up again Tuesday night for Game 3 in front of 60,000 screaming Marlins fans. What they got instead was lots of rain. Let me repeat...lots of rain. It rainded like hell. Cats and dogs. Florida style. Thank God I have an AquaTech rain cover for my 400 2.8.
The Yankees won Game 3 by a score of 6-1 and appear poised to win it all again as Roger Clemens takes the mound Wednesday night for Game 4. This could be the last time that Clemens toes the slab in a big league uniform- ever. Could be very exciting- and very bad for the Fish.
Game 4 was a thriller in many ways as Roger Clemens started the last game of his Hall of Fame career and Marlins shortstop Miguel Cabrera won it for the Fish with a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 12th inning giving the Marlins a 4-3 victory and evening the Series at 2 games apiece.
Tuesday saw many sports shooters traveling from New York to Florida. Many of them went straight to the ballpark to harass MLB's Rich Pilling about photo positions. The good new is that there was a big brand-new photo box being constructed behind first base which will add many spots for some of the over 80 photographers who will be covering the games.
The big topics discussed during the week in both New York and South Florida (besides what hotels everyone is staying at) are photo positions, crappy photo positions, where are you going for dinner, good photo positions, and the lack of photo positions. Oh yeah...also...where are the press pins?

That's right everybody, our own Grover Sanschagrin had a credential waiting for him in sunny Florida...but he decided to stay at home and miss the festivities. This is the official MLB list of credentialed photographers.

It seems that MLB has been kinda stingy and the much-coveted souvenirs are VERY tough to come by this year. Even Mickey Palmer and Johnny Iacono were having trouble getting them. Hopefully the top secret boxes full of pins will be located soon and every credentialed sports shooter will get a crack at them. I know there will be a few more smiles around the USA TODAY table in the digital photo darkroom when they are handed out.
