(Note: One in a series of stories on breakout leaders at the upcoming Sports Shooter Workshop & Luau.)
Bit Depth?
Gigabyte?
RAW+JPEG?
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor?
Lateral Buried Charge Accumulator and Sensing Transistor?
Chimping?
Technology? Robert Beck says "enough already!" ... and doggone it he wants to do something about it.
Beck will be leading one of 15 breakout sessions at the Sports Shooter Workshop & Luau 2003, Nov. 7 - 8. His class, "Get Off That Computer & Back To The Light Table" will take participants back to the basics -- when the image was what we all talked about, not the technology that made it.

Beck, a Southern California - based staff photographer with Sports Illustrated, will share his insights, exceptional photography and humor in this 90 - minute class.
"How about a Holga ... 16 bucks a pop and shoots 120. Sound good to you?" Beck says about going retro.
"Graflex with a 137mm ... 300 George Washingtons to shoot 4 X 5? Oh yeah. Good enough to run in magazines from Polaroid too." he adds.
What Beck wants to emphasis in this unique class is getting back to what's in the viewfinder and not how big a chip the camera uses.
How about a little bit of fun (what? fun in a Robert Beck class?) ... he suggests another "toy camera".
"Lomo multi image cameras? Thirty bucks. No one picture out of these cameras even looks the same as the one preceding it. There you have it. Inexpensive, unique and publishable (Is that a word?)."
Beck challenges those who sign up for his class that have an older film camera to "bring it with you and share it. Come think outside the box with us!"
