Nikon View 6.2.1 Question (copy & resize)

->> I am trying to copy and resize jpg's using NV6. I have done it before, so I know it works, but I am having some trouble right now.
The purpose of this is to batch size my jpg's into as small as possible for dumping onto my CD for copyright submission. I am not concerned too much about the image quality just as long as it's readable.
So what I am doing, is to highlight the files I want. Then I go to Tools/Copy and resize as jpg/ Once there I have tried all options with a dump into a destination folder.
What I get is all the file names are copied, but their size is 0 bytes. I have tried tagging the files first, nothing different. I realize I cannot tag files across a network with NV6, so I moved files to local drive and dumped into a folder on the same local drive. Still nothing.
Any ideas........
Thanks,

->> This is a first.
Nikon responded before any SS members did. So here is the scoop for anyone else with similar problems.
First off Nikon says don't use Lexar 1GB 40X pro cards on D2H "it's not an approved card". I have taken 50,000 images off this card, so I think it works.....
Anyway, the fix from Nikon was to uninstall Nikon View and reinstall the 6.2.2. Ok I did that already. No change.
Next suggestion from Nikon, download to "My Pictures only (the default destination for Nikon Transfer)".......I don't think so.
Nikon can't help past this point.________________________
I did some reverse engineering and found some files can be resized an some not. At first I thought maybe it was embedded file, like sRGB or some other printer profile I had embedded. That theory held up for a while but then it crashed. I thought maybe some kind of tag had attached itself to a file, maybe but I cant find it.
In any event I will have to batch about 50,000 files without Nikon View as the resize application.
Does anyone know if Photo Mechanic (Win)can do this operation?
Any other ideas.
Thanks again

->> Ian...
I tried unsuccessful to recreate the problems you are encountering with NV 6.2.2. I was able to resize and batch process saving into all kinds of folders on a W2K platform. I dont know if you want to, but maybe go back to an earlier version? I am using 6.1.0.
As for PhotoMechanic, you can batch resize and save to another location. Just select your images and 'Save As'. From there you have options such as JPEG and TIFF or even Photoshop PSD...Win v4.1.2. You can apply cropping or to fit in a box of your specifications. Image resolution is adjustable as well.
For PhotoMechanic, I am using Win Version 4.1.2 and Mac Version 4.1.1. |

->> Thanks Andrew, I give PM a try.
It is strange, more investigation shows if I do anything in PS even save as a name change, I cannot then use NV to copy and resize. Figuring this has to have something to do with IPTC I played around with that.
It now gets very stange. In NV 6.2.2 on a 2.3MB file I remove the IPTC info, I mean just clear it. File size goes up to 26MB right away. Figuring that was a mistake I put it back, file size goes off scale to 266MB. I stopped at that point........
Thanks.........
