Photo Mechanic Corruption

->> I got to work this morning and my Photo Mechanic was corrupt.

I use 3.2.7 and have a few problems with the varables and tagging of the photos in the preview (Large view pallete mode) in the past but now I can't ingest, I can't open a contact sheet. I tried trashing the old program and preferences and download from Camera Bits again but nothing works.

Help

->> Since you have deleted the old program, and have reinstalled it, and still have problems, I am wondering if this may be more than one problem.

Does your finder show the memory card, and the photos? If so, are you able to drag them onto your computer? Can you ingest the photos using the camera manufacturer's software? If not, then the problem is with your card or more likely the card reader. Try different cards, and if possible different card readers.

I assume that you have not changed anything recently, like getting a new camera. PM 3.2.7 is an older version that does not support the newest cameras.

Have you updated your OS recently. OS updates often break programs requiring software upgrades.

Before reinstalling PM, did you run a disk repair program? There may be corrupted system files that PM uses that may be the problem.

Try contacting Camera Bits tech support and see if PM puts files in anyplace besides applications and preferences that need to be deleted.

If none of that helps give give us a list of your gear, so we may be able to narrow the problem down.

Computer, Firewire/USB/PC card slot/OS version
Camera Make/model/ manufacturers software installed
Card reader type

Good Luck

->> I finally got it to work, I uninstalled, trashed everything that was related to photomechanic, restarted the machine and then reinstalled from the website and I as found out the card I was trying to download was corrupted when I went to check the files in the camera.

I reformatted the card and it finally worked.

Interesting how the card corrupted in the camera over night after only 20 images on it and PM didn't want to work after I tried ingesting a bad card it.

Thanks for you help

->> Good to see that you got things working again.

Sorry to hear that you lost some images.

You might still be able to save the photos just so long as you have not shot anything else on that card. Try PhotoRescue, it is a great program for saving images. It has saved my but a couple of times.
