Why don't my photos have exposure info
Jeff Frings, Photographer

->> Why don't my photos taken with a D100 and either a 80-200 nikon afs or tamron af 17-35, have any exposure info with them when I look at them in photoshop. I go to file> info and nothing shows up. these are large jpegs right off the card. I can see all the info on the camera when I chimp, but not after I dump them onto the hard drive in photoshop.

In Photoshop 7(PC), when I go to File Info and then find EXIF in the SECTION Dropdown, all my info is there.
What do you see in that panel? Is it blank?

->> Jeff,

If you don't have Photo Mechanic, get a copy. For about $150.00 you'll get all that info, and more. If you don't need, or want to go to the expense of upgarding your version of Photoshop this will solve your problem, plus it will be quicker to go through the images, and, when you want to go into Photoshop, there is a button on the page that allows you to go directly to Photoshop. You can download a free trial version at camerabits.com.

->> I'm not exactly sure which version of PS began recognizing camera data, (5.5 perhaps, maybe 6...?) but I do know for sure that PS 5 does not. Don't forget--back when PS 5 came out we were still in the glory days of Fuji, Wing-Lynch, and Leafscan!!
