->> Any thoughts on how long I need to let the batteries go in the "refreshing" mode? Does it stop on it's own and then recharge??? How long in between recharges should I refresh?

->> Jay,
When you hit "refresh" it drains the remaining power and then fully recharges the battery. This can take a while (up to 12 hours I believe). I am not sure if I am doing the correct thing, but I have started "refreshing" my batteries once a month. I know if it's the 1st, it is the day to "refresh". So far, my batteries have worked very well.
Any more educated people know if what I am doing is helping the performance or hurting the life? |

| ->> After initially getting conflicting answers from Canon New Jersey they come to recommend conditioning batteries ever few months are as needed. I have 4 batteries and do one ever month and run this cycle over and over. I keep track of which battery was last and have had no problems what so ever. |

->> Canon's Chuck Westfall recommends (on the Galbraith forums):
"After an initial set of 3 conditioning cycles, you should only recondition your NP-E3 battery packs about once a month in average professional use. (Average professional use = 5 days a week, hundreds of exposures per day.)
"In the case of the NP-E3 battery packs, you're looking at roughly 350 ~ 500 recharge cycles before the battery pack can no longer be used. For an "average pro," that's going to work out to roughly 18 to 24 months of steady use. Your mileage may vary..." |
