->> We have some very COOL news about THE coolest sports photography event of 2020: Jose Carlos Fajardo has cleared his busy calendar to join the faculty of Sports Shooter Academy 17!
Jose is a staff photographer with the Bay Area News Group covering not just sport but also general news and features. From wild fires to the Golden State Warriors run of NBA Championships to the sidelines of prep football games he captures story telling images that go beyond the ordinary to the extraordinary. Check out his work on his Instagram feed @fuzyjoe.
Jose's keen insights, vision, enthusiasm, vast knowledge about sports and his good humor are a wonderful additions to the stable of award-winning photographers on the Sports Shooter Academy faculty. He joins the faculty that includes: Wally Skalij (Los Angeles Times staff photographer), Keith Birmingham (Los Angeles News Group staff photographer), Bob Deutsch (USA TODAY staff photographer), Hannah Foslein (Getty Images and Associated Press contributing photographer), Myung J. Chun (Los Angeles Times staff photographer), Kelvin Kuo (USA TODAY and Associated Press contributing photographer), Mike Goulding (educator and freelance photographer), Michael Der (Los Angeles-based freelance photographer) and Anwar Torres (Los Angeles-based freelance photographer).
I guess we're going to have to change our dress code to allow instructors to wear short pants!
Sports Shooter Academy 17 is March 4-8, 2020 in Los Angeles. College basketball, baseball. softball and tennis are on the workshop shooting schedule. Other opportunities include horse racing at historic Santa Anita Park, swimming and diving at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center and rugby. The Sports Shooter Academy is sponsored by Nikon Professional Services. Funding from NPS goes to paying the tuition of college and university students enrolled in the program.

Longtime Los Angeles Dodgers team photographer Jon SooHoo will be the featured speaker at SSA17 Open House on March 4.
Nikon Professional Services will be on site showing off and demo’ing their latest gear including the Z mirrorless system and the new D780.
Samy’s Camera will have their mobile store setup offering special SSA pricing on gear.
Details on the Sports Shooter Academy 17 Open House will be posted in the next couple of weeks.
