->> I bought the upgrade, but I'm hesitant to start using it yet. Anybody using it already? Any early comments? |

->> Hey Troy, I've been running the betas for several months. There are a few changes that are impacting users who relied on those features but generally it is a positive change.
The best thing is that you can install them side by side. So try out 6 and if you need to just quit it and launch 5. Preferences are shared between the two versions so you can't run them at the same time, but it doesn't hurt to have them both installed. |

->> I hear they dropped the SEARCH function. Is this true? In lieu of not having a catalog function yet, I have been using that a lot. |

->> Wally, yes the old Spotlight search (that only existed on macOS but not Windows) is now gone.
I agree, if that is something you use frequently you will definitely want to wait for Photo Mechanic Plus with the catalog functionality. |

->> I've used PM or over 15 years and didn't know there was a SEARCH function! Where can I find out more about this Photo Mechanic Plus that is coming? |

->> There will be a public beta of "Plus" at the end of the month. It is a full on catalog (DAM) that allows searching through online and offline files. |

->> A warning for any macOS users on 10.14 Mojave:
There has been a bug discovered that is making PM6 run really slow for some users:
"It appears that the main factor that is common between all affected systems is that they are equipped or are connected to high-resolution displays that are wide-gamut (P3 color space)."
This doesn't appear to be effecting 10.12 Sierra or 10.13 High Sierra users and Camera Bits is working with Apple on it.
So if you fit that criteria above you probably want to hold off upgrading for now. |

->> I started using it last week without any issues and then this weekend, it started acting all weird on me. Erase Source Disk after ingest doesn't work anymore and other annoyances. I'm going to have to create an account and join the Camera Bits message board to see about how to fix the issues |

->> Kevin, I am on a pc, and if you do a CTRL F, it brings up a search dialog box. This allows you to at least search in your current directory.
Hopefully the new catalog function will work better! |

->> Yes, CTRL F works the same as always. What users are complaining about is the removal of the full disk search functionality powered by macOS's Spotlight system feature. |

->> I’m still using PM4...but, my newest memory card seems to always crash the ingest. I think the newest edition is mandatory for me at this point. ....but that license was the best 10 year software run I’ve ever had! |

->> Version 6 is much faster today on a somewhat underpowered i5 iMac after the most recent release on 6/19. |

->> I’ve got a strange issue where files seem to disappear at times after I ingest, tag, and add metadata. If I leave PM for another program and come back it seems like they reappear. I can’t seem to nail down what actions I take to make this happen, but it sure is slowing down my work flow... Anyone seen anything similar?
