| ->> I live near several universities and would like to branch out from shooting high school sports. Any advice who to contact or how to get "on the field" to shoot? |

->> FYI, them just handing over a photo pass to you will probably be highly unlikely unless you know the SID personally and he/she knows you -- and even then that may be iffy because of the huge demand for sideline passes.
You basically have two avenues. Hook up with a local paper and work the games for them, and get paid. And/or hook up with the colleges where you may be asked to provide images to them for free. It does happen, which is the opposite of getting paid. Many places have their college students supply their art so you need to create the type of imagery their people can't do for the best chance.
There is a third -- take out a 2nd mortgage and make a HUGE money contribution to the school whereupon you may be granted a sideline pass with alumni contributors. However, you may then be subject to the wrath of working photographers for taking up shooting space from them. |
