->> AP drum print transmitter in good condition free to someone willing to pay for shipping. I'm clearing things out before a move and I'd hate to just throw this away.
See my listing in the classifieds for a photo. |

| ->> Smithsonian. But I'm disappointed that it's not the big blue box that only did black and white. |

| ->> I think that the big blue box was a UPI transmitter. At least the ones I used were. |

->> The UPI transmitter was blue and was drum type like the AP model.
The big blue box Simon is talking about transmitted b/w prints only in a straight through manner -- into the top and out the bottom -- and was approximately 24x12x10 with a solid aluminum front. It would break your foot if you dropped it or give you a mild hernia if you lifted it wrong.
Before them was a drum scanner that used 8.5x11 paper with a manual clutch. You literally had to listen to the clickity click and throw the switch at the right moment to match the phasing. It's power transformer was a separate unit that weighed just as much and just as foot deadly. |

| ->> I should get it to go along with my Leafax 35 and Leafscan 35. The Leafscan 35, which I still use on occasion, is connected to a Apple PowerMac 7100. Makes great scans. |

| ->> I have an Apple Powerbook 180c and a Nikon Coolscan somewhere. The laptop does boot up as it needs a back-up battery. |

| ->> Doug is correct. The big blue box was styled identically to the AP photo receiver that sat across the newsroom of the Indiana Daily Student where I learned the business in the late 1980's. I had to lug it, in my Toyota Tercel, to Assembly Hall for the IU basketball season one year. Super heavy. |
