Canon 1DX - Quick mode vs Live mode

->> As I understand, Quick Mode uses dedicated sensor and PDAF, phase detection, and Live Mode uses image sensor and CDAF, contrast detection. The setting is described on page 220 of the manual. My question does this setting affect video only? Does this setting affect still images? Is PDAF used ALL the time for still images?
In summary, Quick mode vs Live mode - only video?
