Canon 35-350 repair

->> I have a 35-350L that is old enough that CPS will not touch it and it just so happens my usual suspect, Mid-State Camera Repair, doesn't work on this particular model. I think the 35-350 with all those elements and the push-pull zoom is probably a bear to deal with.
Parts availability can be a problem for lenses that Canon has end-of-lifed but I think I found the part it needs on ebay.
Can anyone recommend a good repair shop?
(I have already put in a call to Midwest Camera Repair and while they might be able to do it, they seem pretty busy and haven't gotten back to me yet. I just want some other options.) |

Plus 1 for Midstate. They fixed a 200 1.8 for me that needed them to adapt a part from another lens. It took a few weeks but the price was very good and the work was great.

->> Steven, your repair must have been the straw that broke the camel's back because Mark replied that he does not work on that model. ;-)
He did refer me to another shop but they're not too excited about working on it either. |

->> Sorry to hear that Al. My 35-350 zoom was sticking and they unstucked it (Is that a word? If not, I am making it one).
I wish there was support for the 35-350, as I prefer it over the 28-300. I don't like the overlap with the 16-35 on the short end and would rather have the extra 50mm on the long end.
I am tempted to buy another 35-350 as a parts lens. |

->> TF Camera Repair Service in East Brunswick, NJ. TF is a former CPS repair tech. Does great work. (732) 238-8806 tfcrservice@yahoo.com
If he will work on it you will need to get it to him by the 12th so he can turn it before closing the shop for vacation. |

->> Steven, I agree. Not only is the range preferable to me, but the 35-350 is sharper at 350mm than the 28-300 is at 300mm. The short end isn't great but if you are concerned with 35mm there are a lot better options than a 10:1 zoom.
Colin, thanks, I'll check it out. |

->> Al.
I used TF Camera Repair in the 1990's to keep my film bodies going. He did good work.

->> Midwest Camera Repair in Michigan did a great (and fairly quick) job of fixing my 35-350 a year or two ago. The price was good, too, if I remember correctly. |

->> Midwest appears to be exceptionally busy right now. They took a long time to get back to me (and I think only because I pestered them), and in the end they decided they didn't want to work on it. |

->> I had my 35-350 serviced a few months ago at California Precision Service here in Sacramento. They do excellent work. http://www.camrepair.com/
