->> Photographing my first college football game. Any suggestions on must have items besides the norm. Any input on something you found was a must have for the sidelines. |

->> If you plan on kneeling while shooting then get a good pair of knee pads. If you plan on using teleconverters then get a waist bag, belt pouch, or some other quick and easy method of having them easily accessible but secured so that you do not lose them when you move to a different shooting location. |

Pure class, Tim. |

->> Water. Field will be really hot when the season starts, especially ones with field turf, and you cannot count on the school to make sure the photographers have enough to drink. |

->> Depending on who you are shooting for, it's a good idea to get more non-action photos than usual. Pre-game tailgating, marching band, fans, cheerleaders and other traditions for the home team might have. Do your homework on what those traditions might be.
Since it's college football, don't stop shooting once the game is in hand. A 48-3 score doesn't mean you should head back to the workroom and start editing. That's when the freshman will get into the game. Those photos are often more valuable in the offseason once the starting players have graduated or left for the NFL.
Don't assume there will be free wifi, or wifi at all. Contact the SID to find out. Like any assignment, don't assume there will be a meal supplied because you might not want to eat that meal. I know to avoid a heavy meal before shooting a noon game on a 98 degree sunny day, so I make sure to have my own snacks for pre-game and post-game.
Talk to the local shooters who cover all of the games to find out what the rules are. Most of us are friendly and helpful people, but even the grumpy ones will let you know what's up just so you don't get in their way.
Raingear. If you don't bring raingear, it will rain. It's a rule. |

->> A secure way to stash your extra memory cards for changing. Don't be the idiot that loses his card with 3/4 of the game on it. |
