eBay fella making money selling our images...
Greg Bartram, Photographer

->> Here's the guy's 'store'.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/ukgobigblueuk/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_t...

I found two of my images on his page, but was asked by eBay not to publicize it until they settled my copyright violation case. I was hopin gthe'd close him down, but they didn't...they only shot down the two images I complained about. Take a look, and lodge a complaint if you find your images here.

The ones of mine he grabbed both ran on espn.com, and one ran in SI, so I'm guessing his source is espn.com.

->> If you know the right people @ Getty and slip them about $2,500 you can get a password getting you access to any full size non watermarked digital file in the Getty Archives.

It would be for that reason alone to never deal with Getty in my opinion.

->> Click on http://jarred.github.io/src-img and then hold down your mouse button on ?¿ src-img and drag it to your browser's navigation bar (bookmarks bar) and drop it there. Then click on it and it turns on a comparison tool so when you click on an image it will show you where all of the images like that one, or similar ones, are on the web.

->> While looking to see where the fellow mention by the OP was getting his photos from, it seems like it very, very easy to find high-res files of celebs on the web for him to make prints from. I stumbled across this search engine: http://www.crazygallery.info

I did a search for Eli Manning and it listed several pages of links to high-res files of Manning.

A tip or two on crazygallery.info. It is a pop-up nightmare. To do a search for an athlete or celeb, type the name into the URL bar after the site name. Use a '-' to separate the first from last name to avoid unleashing the pop-up javascript monster. IE: www.crazygallery.info/Chuck-Liddy.html or www.crazygallery.info/Eli-Manning.html

->> You don't need to know the right people at Getty or slip them a dime, the passwords are shared pretty heavily in autograph hound circles - asked one guy who know steals a lot to get signed and described where he gets the passwords, one gets shut off it's minutes before he has another.

->> I'd like to see the workflow for these endeavors. On the mainline torrent sites you can download jpegs like any other movie or mp3. Who knows what you could find in the silk road if you got daring. But within hours you could easily get a couple gigs of photos...to trade with others, and the next thing you know, you've got a new cooperative.

->> Clearly Ebay is aware they are hosting illegally obtained/sold images and still allows this guy to continue, (presumably because they make money from every one of his sales).

Hopefully someone will include Ebay in their lawsuit which may encourage them to take a little more responsibility in shutting down illegal sellers once they have been identified.

->> If you want to fight this, get ready to play Wack-A-Mole. Ebay does nothing to help you get your work off and is a pain to deal with.

As soon as you get one item down (which is a process) you have that same person pop back up with another user name selling another $3.99 8x10. And eBay is loathe to give you the user's contact information so that you can file a copyright infringement suit against them.
