Is this a valuable read? Would it have application outside the US?

->> Gordon - It's a good read and full of good information regardless of where you live. It should not be your Bible, however. Only you can write that based on your business, clients, location, etc.

It's on my shelf and been read and referred to many times.

Does a bear s*** in the woods?
Does Chuck Liddy have an opinion? :-)

The answer is YES! This book is a must-read for anyone who wishes to structure and build a serious, professional photography business. I have given this book to several of my workshop students.

READ IT from cover to cover and heed it's admonitions. It'll completely turn your head around on issues of pricing, equipment, insurance, client relations, etc.

From one of John's former clients:
"Interestingly, he is so professional, buttoned up and clear about the value of and rights to his work, that he seems even MORE attractive than photographers who aren't so demanding. First you assume his work is really really good if he can be that adamant about protecting its rights, and second you know for sure he won't be late, sloppy, embarrass you in front of a client, charge you for add-ons you weren't expecting, etc. While he is a very good photographer, there are others around. The combination of being a good photographer and a good businessman, however, puts his business up a few levels from competitors."

And from none other than David Hume Kennerly:
"...if you are starting as a professional shooter, or have been in the biz like me for over four decades, you better put down your camera and buy this book."

'nuff said?

Phil, I purchased it from Book Depository in the UK. free shipping, cost $AUD32.00

Never buy books in Oz, cost would be double!
