In addition, when I get some time this afternoon I plan to locate contact information for the two other events mentioned in the article and forward the story to them. While I suspect little will be done to cancel their appearance at least the organizers will have an idea of who they are showcasing.
Hate photographers all you want, but don't cross that line of humanity and respect. |

Here are my photos from the last time: http://toddspothblog.com/2011/04/21/sxsw-2011/
Odd Future are always "aggressive" and "riled up". Thats their MO. It just comes with the territory. They are really young and really don't care about much. Getting swung on while you're just doing your job is BS though. |

->> I agree with Jamey...low point of your year for certain. On behalf of all future photographers she should press charges. I was assaulted like that at the para-olympics one year by a parent upset his son had been injured during one of the bicycle race crashes. People may have found it unkind of me to press charges because he was upset because of his son's injury (he turned out totally fine), but attacking photographers paid to be at a place where they are allowed is not acceptable. |

"What an ugly, sad little boy"
I really hope that Amy reconsiders her course of action. The bad part about that however is that they will likely relish in the news about it thinking it somehow helps their image.
And I really wanted to avoid a comment on their "music" (uh...yeah) I just have to add this. I am a music fan of all types. I find the musicality and artistry in one's vision whenever possible. If I agree with what they are saying or not is irrelevant. If I like the music or not is irrelevant. The only talent these bozos display is a penchant to stir up controversy with over the top foul lyrics and statements. Plenty of acts have followed this direction of the years and most have faded to oblivion because there is no substance. This group and their noise will soon enough be gone and forgotten. |

Seriously, Mac Daddy and Daddy Mac called -- they want their shitty schtick back.
Also, propers for starting what I believe is the first thread with the word "douchebag" in it. Personally I'd have preferred the "douchebaggery" form of the noun, but I'll take what I can get. |

->> Personally the douchebag should be very careful. He is actually in a VERY tenuous position on the edge of the stage to reach out and slap someone. I'm just saying....a shooter who didn't want to put up with that nonsense could easily grab his arm when he was assaulting them and snatch his skinny punk ass right off the stage into the pit. then the ass stomping would begin, and it would be his ass getting stomped. it would be a case of self defense I would think. |

What I really don't understand is why charges aren't pressed and/or why the promoters aren't held liable. There is no way that being assaulted comes under any of the risk waivers that the media have to agree to. |

->> What's possibly worse than the assault? The response by the publicists:
"There simply is no truth to the accusation floating around the internet. Its no secret that Odd Future has a love/hate relationship with photographers at shows simply because sometimes they are given access the group wishes their fans would have instead. After telling the photographers to clear out multiple times (as they've done before) Vyron (Leftbrain) took a swipe at a few cameras, NOT people. To manipulate the situation to insinuate an attack on a woman specifically is careless and manipulative." |

->> Bringing this back on track... :)
I have been in brief contact with Amy. She has decided to seek advise from an attorney. I am glad to see her take a stance on this one, and completely agree with the position. Here is her response and official statement.
---
Mike,
Here is my official statement with next steps:
"I was very disheartened to learn yesterday that Odd Future is denying that one of its members, Vyron Turner (“Left Brain”), engaged in the violent conduct that so many people witnessed and even photographed or videotaped. After he so publicly attacked me, I truly believed that an apology would be immediately forthcoming, which is why I declined to press charges at that time. The unexpected turn of events, including an attack by Odd Future on my credibility and motives for discussing the incident, have caused me to re-evaluate my initial decision. I’ve contacted an attorney – Amy Borlund with Doll Amir & Eley in Los Angeles – and am pursuing my options. At a minimum, I am seeking a public apology from Vyron Turner. Ultimately, I want a resolution in which Turner is held accountable for his actions."
Thanks,

->> Vyron is stupid enough to think that the world gives a SH*T about him and his music. He's about to discover several things:
1) That his 15 minutes of fame is fleeting;
2) That committing assault is stupid, to commit it and have it recorded and witnessed by a large group of people makes him dumber than primordial sludge;
3) He better hope that when he hits county lockup while someone who is paid to give a SH*t tries to arrange bail that Bubba doesn't beat him senseless or worse.
I'm old, but I know that there is karma. Whatever Amy does or doesn't do... Vyron is going to get his.. trust me. |

So now I am confused he is analytical in that he wants to slap a photographer yet he does it intuitively there for cancelling out his brain and he is left with "No Brain" also known as brain dead. But what really is funny, there are people who fork over money to go watch this no brain babble garbage. |

Best to help the lady up or call the police, offer whatever assistance you can, but never, never get involved in an altercation such as the one we've been discussing here. If it's your wife, that's another story, but more often than not, you'll find yourself in handcuffs for getting involved with something that's none of your business. |

I have been in many situations where I just held myself back because I knew that if I flew into this guy, I would be the one in jail that night, even though he kept on provoking me. However, self-control is not the easiest thing...
In my school days, OK so it is a while ago, and in a different country; the teachers used to give us boxing gloves and let us fight for 5 minutes... Honor was different then... |

But there's a better reason in this case to let it pass: Vryon the no brain is going to end up writing out a big check in a civil suit, and we'll be lucky if he avoids prosecution for assault in a criminal case. That my friend, is far better than getting a lucky punch in.
This assumes some gang banger doesn't get to him first. |
