Getting your ass kicked Burning Man.

->> Reuters asked me to write a blog about what it was like to cover Burning Man. It wasn’t pretty and not for the faint of heart.
We were the first major news organization in many years allowed to cover the event that could distribute our pics to the world without approval, work without restrictions and we didn’t have to give our copyright to Burning Man.
Check it out here and feel free to share if you like.

->> A few days away from your usual satire Colburn was well worth the effort.
Urquhart, it was great running into you at BM. |

| ->> Great images and write up. There is no way I could have done that assignment. I hate sand and I hate heat. Which is weird considering I live on a beach where it's hot pretty much the whole year. |

->> What Nick said. As a desert rat, I felt right at home in that environment immediately (twenty years of hard core desert camping in Utah prepared me), and everyone I met was incredibly welcoming (despite the cameras). Camping with friends already embedded there was a big, big plus for a first-time burner like me. Had no issues whatsoever with equipment, but I was very meticulous in my prep and tested all my configurations beforehand (particulary gear with bike combos, along with lighting for nighttime. Already planning next year; won't do anything much different other than stay longer and do some timelapse work.
It's an experience completely out of this world, but it's not for everyone. I've wanted to go for twenty years, and it surpassed all my expectations photographically and experientially. Completely fantastic.
