SD card in my laundry

->> Has anybody ever washed a SD card by accident? I just found one in my washer and am not sure what to do. It went through the whole cycle including softener added to the rinse water. Should I rinse out the softener and then dry or just let it dry out on its own?

->> +1 to Chuck's comment. The only problem results if it was full of dirty pictures.

->> Since it went through the softener cycle all your images written to it will be out of focus from now on.
Seriously, because the unit is solid state there shouldn't be any harm to it as long as it isn't cracked where water could have leaked in. I've had CF cards go through the wash by accident without mishap to what was already on it and what was recorded later. |

->> Thanks everybody. I will just let it dry out in a ziplock bag full of rice. Just didn't know if the softener might effect the metal.

->> My wife refuses to empty my pockets before washing my clothes, so every card I have has been through a few cycles. The most interesting test of CF cards and water/corrosion was when a card fell out of my pocket into the pool in the fall, was covered by a leaf and then a pool cover. Cleaning the pool five months later I found the card and I am still using it to this day.
