->> FYI, don't know about Canon but for those who own Nikon and have their gear stolen send your equipment's serial number(s) to Nikon's repair department. Whenever a piece of equipment comes in to be fixed they check the SN against their list of stolen gear.

Catching the crook should be easy since the equipment came in with a name and return address; and your missing equipment is now in Nikon's hands for return.

->> Oh wow... I went to school with the guy (from the LA area) who ended up buying the stolen camera body that was eventually tracked down. (obviously not knowing it was stolen). He is still a student and had to give up his camera to LAPD or face being arrested.
