Broken LCD glass on D3S

| ->> Just went to put my D3s away and noticed the glass over the LCD area that shows ISO, WB, etc is broken. I BABY this camera, and it's always covered so I have no idea how this happened. Is this something I should send to NPS or am I better off going for a local camera repair? |

| ->> Not to put too fine a point on it, but isn't NPS a fairly local resource in NYC? |

->> Debra -
I've replaced LCD covers on Canon 1D bodies several times - I presume it's the same process on the Nikon's. They are just held on with double face tape.
The replacement cover and the double face tape (order more than one in case you mess up), were around $10 as per my recollection. Shipping your body will run more than that.
Remove the broken cover (small suction cup or pry up with a knife edge. Clean off the residual tape. Place the new tape on the body. Make sure their is no dust on the LCD itself. Place the new cover on. |

->> Mark,
the piece that is broken is the small piece on the bottom of where you can view the image--the piece that underneath it displays the ISO, White Balance, etc-the small rectangular piece.
I just started searching to see if I can buy that myself and can't find it. |
