| ->> The news of the passing of Lou Cappozola is very sad and shocking. Never without a smile, Lou's talent was only surpassed by his great personality. Those of us who knew him were enriched by that friendship. |

->> I first met Lou at a Toronto Maple Leafs Game and use to run into him at the occasional game throughout the season. The last time I saw Lou occurred when he parked his car next to mine at BMO Field in Toronto during the 2010 MLS final. We shared a few stories and then we headed to BMO Field from the parking lot. I remember him telling me how he hated the fact that the game started so late (8:30pm) and that he had yet to pick up his credential.
What struck me was how he joked about it and took it in stride.
He was a professional and it showed.
Lou left a lasting impression on me, one which I will never forget.
My most heart felt sympathy and condolences go out to his family and close friends.
We will all miss him very much. |

I once covered a hockey game with him and a player knocked one of his tooth out with his stick by accident while he was shooting at ice level that didn't have any protective glass at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. He just shrugged it off and kept shooting.
He will be missed. |

->> I can't say it any better than Chris.
Lou's stories kept us in stitches after many games, and I will never forget the weeks the three of us spent covering a World Junior tournament in Sweden, and watching Lou's kids skating on the outdoor rink. They were so young then!
Lou was always quick to help another shooter, and the quality of his images speak for themselves. Rest in peace, friend. |

->> Lou always would greet us with a smile and a great fishing story, about chasing schools of Stripped Bass up the beaches of Long Island.
Here is a person who knew how to show up to any event totally egoless...He was just Lou there on assignment, making amazing images. We all need to be more like he was.
Please read this from his son Taj:
Yesterday, August 18th, my family and I suffered the great loss of my father, Louis Capozzola. The outpouring of support from friends and family has been amazing and it has meant a lot to see just how much he touched all of the people in his life.
While in Nepal, Lou was deeply moved by the images he saw of children getting to school by crossing rivers on long ropes. He came home with the goal of getting a foot bridge built. In his name, we would like to construct a foot bridge to provide passage to children and villagers in far western Nepal. This bridge can serve as a symbol of friendship, hope and the strong connections Lou made with everyone that stepped into his life.
In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you make donations to support this project. All funds will be matched by the Dhulikhel Rotary Club in Nepal. I will be providing information regarding where funds can be sent at a later date.
If you would like to send something to house, mail can addressed to:
Pam Capozzola
PO Box 604
Westhampton Beach, NY 11978
And packages can be sent to:
Pam Capozzola
77 Oak Street
Westhampton Beach, NY 11978
Also, we are collecting images of Lou to tell his story. Please share whatever you have. Images can be sent to taj.capozzola@gmail.com.
Please share this with friends and family. Thank you all for your kind words and support. I means so much to all of us.
Pam, Eva and Taj
Please know how truly and profoundly Lou will be missed. |

| ->> When I started shooting baseball in NYC there were cliques that would not talk with me. Lou was one of the few that greeted me nicely and did not care what others thought. He was his own man and a very nice one. |
