When I was covering the G20 Summit a few years ago I had some trouble from protesters. Fortunately I was in a group of photographers so it came to more or less nothing - just a bit of shoving. They showed a street where all the shops except one were vandalized if not looted too. The one and only store that didn't even had a rock chip in its picture windows? A book store. Interesting quote from the link above: "a lot of photographers, including those working for agencies, are now trying to remain as inconspicuous as possibly by using high definition flip cameras that look like mobile phones but take professional quality images. My first thought was, great, tell them what p&s to look for. Really sucks we can't just do our jobs without the public turning on us.
