Using two PW TT5s

->> Any thoughts on using two transceivers instead of one and a TT1? (This would get around the non-standard battery of the TT1 noted in a SS.com review.) I don't know if there are other up/down-sides to this.
Another review noted sync trouble beyond 1/320. These reviews were all in May, so I'm hoping I can get more opinions now. Thanks |

->> TT5s have better range but are bulkier. That's about it as I see it.

->> Am I correct that these PW units allow high-sync (to varying extent, apparently), but do NOT allow power adjustments from camera to remote flash? Is using the Nikon SB800/900 as the main/transmitter the only way to accomplish this? Thanks

->> You can also use the AC3 zone controller to make adjustments instead of using a flash in the shoe of transmitter as a master

->> THe people that complain about the TT5's just plain do not know how to use them.
I regularly sync up to 1/8000th with speedlights
The two critical factors are that the firmware has to match on each unit and you must use freshly recharged batteries. you must also use the test button to establish communication prior to your first shot.
The TT5's have a much better range than the TT1 - I have one of those also.
for in camera adjustments you have to remember you are using ETTL and it is an adjustment with in camera exposure compensation, not directly on the flash.
As mentioned with Mark above you can add the AC3 to make adjustments to each zone(A,B, or C) - The AC3 does work as advertised, when you use the TT5's properly - updated firmware on all units(same firmware on each) and fresh batteries. Yes I said it again, but these units use a lot of battery juice and as the charge level in the TT5 batteries goes down the consistency gets worse - generally I see inconsistency after about 300 flashes if I started with freshly charges batteries (eneloops)

->> Sometimes I use two tt5, sometimes I use tt1 + tt5. I love the zone controller, very easy and fast to change power output or flash exposure compensation.

->> I own two TT5's and use them for outdoor portraits with no problems, except when the batteries start going down. Carry several replacement batteries and you are good to go. As far as changing flash, I use manual both in camera and flash, so that is a non issue with me.
