Square App - Get one.

->> I wanted to drop a note on the Square App ( for iPhone and Andriod). Its a credit card reader that connects to your devices headphone jack. Its a free download and they ship you the reader for free as well.
The benefits are really limitless. I got this to use for things outside of sports but can see where the benefits come in. Though it does has a 2.75% transaction fee it is easy to add that into the bill to a client. And thats all you pay. No hidden fees.
Its VERY secure and actually makes your client sign after swiping the card. They in turn get a receipt emailed to them and the payment is posted in your bank account within 24 hours. Which is not a big deal in my eyes.
I have used this already and blew away the client with the ability to process credit cards in their office. Hopefully I can get ALOT of use out of it.
Check it out! |

->> One thing to keep in mind that the original set up limits you to $1,000 a week or maybe it's $1000 a month. Anyhow there is a limit that is pretty easily reached.
A friend of mine uses it and he didn't get some of the money he was supposed to get and when he called that is what he was told. So they up his limit to $3,000 per whatever it is, and then told them if he needed a higher limit to call back.
Not sure why they do this, but just a heads up for folks that choose to go with Square. |

| ->> Yeah they "hold" your $$$ for a few days. Once you have a relationship with them, limits are easy to increase. You can also process without the reader but fees go up. I freakin' love it! |

| ->> Ditto on that... I got paid the next day. I was unaware of the limits however. That does seem odd as you would think they want you to sell as much as possible. |

->> Certainly the best possible option for the low volume CC processing needs ... very valuable tool ...
I've been using PayPal for online orders for years and now swiping plastic in person has become just a s easy, affordable and simple to complete ... it's a win-win situation for small business folk ... |

| ->> I've been using them since last November and several months ago I asked them to raise my limit....it's now unlimited on swiped cards and $3000 on keyed in cards per week. I use it on my iPad and it still has the 'cool' factor with the clients. The other nice feature is it will send a receipt by email or text message. |

->> I got mine in January and have used it a few times. Fantastic tool for the small business person.
The initial limits really didn't bother me. If a corporate client says they can pay via CC, I'm all over it because otherwise I am likely to be waiting 30-90 days regardless of what my contract says.
The fees are similar to PayPal but I prefer the direct experience Square allows.
Highly recommend. |

->> I've got Square and I love it. By default, there's no limit on swiped cards... only on keyed cards, and as others have mentioned it's easy to have this limit lifted.
"Though it does has a 2.75% transaction fee it is easy to add that into the bill to a client."
Be careful doing that. It's against the merchant agreement of Square, as well as almost every other credit card processor. If a client complains to Square, your account could be closed pretty quickly. Recoup that 2.75% (or 3.5% on keyed) somehow, but don't call it a "credit card fee" or anything similar. |

->> Eric, check out GoPayment by Intuit. I use it with my Blackberry Bold and it is really great!
They were out of card swipers when I signed up, but the application allows you to key it in by hand and the money is in my account in a couple of days.
Here is The Link:
http://intuit-gopayment.com
I switched to GoPayment because my merchant account fees with East Commerce Solutions had reached the point of being $60 per month and then there was an annual compliance fee that they just started that was $179 with no advance notice of this. It was going to cost me $900 this year just to continue accepting credit cards, so I gave them THE FINGER. |

->> Eric,
Take a look at http://cocardsystems.com/ I was in town, Boston, today at an open market and almost all of the venders used this. Other open markets, SOWA in the south end has many small companies use this. The main office is in Canton so hopefully this is a help for us.
I have no idea of the cost but will be calling tomorrow.

->> Michael I've been with Intuit since the start of the year.
Jim I'll check them out, Lara and I are both due for phone upgrades and I have been holding off waiting to see what Apple officially announced for the iPhone 5. None of the rumored Blackberries are rocking my world. Lara has no intention of giving up her BB.... Funny considering that I had to force it into her hands in the first place.
One VERY interesting twist for the tech geeks.... is that the Blackberry Playbook is going to be able to run Android apps so in theory I may be able to run the Android version of Square on my playbook. A beta of the Android player was leaked and I was one of the lucky ones that downloaded it from the RIM site before they pulled it from the server. Considering hockey season is only 2 months away I guess I should start looking :) |

| ->> Yup meeting with a Pop Warner league to sign a 2 year T&I deal tomorrow night... terms were approved at the last BOD meeting :) No field hockey to speak of, its never done much for me. Congrats on the wedding! I just met with a SS member & his bride to be, in upstate NY, and am now his wedding photographer. Extra bonus I'll be an hour away from one of my all time FAVORITE places on earth to visit..... Just got home 2 hours ago and I'm ready to go back.... Looking forward to next year already. |
