->> What is the MLB's policy on fans with cameras? I know people are going to bring in small DSLRs and Point & Shoots, but I would like to take my 300 f/2.8 with me. I will be at the Cards 'Stros game on Thursday the 28th.
Any help would be great!

->> "Cameras/Video Equipment
Both still and video cameras are allowed in Busch Stadium, as long as they do not obstruct another guest's view. Credentialed professional news crews/cameras are only allowed on the concourses and are not to film any game action unless given permission by the Cardinals."

->> Can't say what it is at the stadium you are going to but as far as NFL in Buffalo you can not have a lens longer than 6" and they know what a TC is also, and will add the length of the lens and TC.
You will just have to check the regs for that stadium. |

->> Depends on the stadium and usually more on the ushers.
When I was in DC the local policy was anything that looked "professional" caused the ushers to check for a pass. A fan may have been able to get in with a 70-200, but anything looking bigger would have them sent back to the car to stow it away.
In Houston every time I've roamed in the stands with a 400 f2.8 I've had an usher walk over to make sure I had a photo pass around my neck. |

->> At Fenway I routinely see people get through with entire backpacks of gear. When a bag is checked a wristband is attached to the bag. Some fans have so many wristbands on their backpacks that they could use it as a handle.
70-200's are an extremely common site at just about any sport venue that I've been at the last few years. It's a silly limit because if it's a daytime event a Nikon 28-300 on one of the newer prosumer bodies will easily get the job done. |
