| ->> Hello all. My 400's rear mount is starting to act up. Anyone know quick turn around for purchase? It is a Nikon AFS 400 2.8 D version 1. Would like to buy rear mount only, I will have the labor done here. Thanks Rich |

->> Richard,
Not sure of the cost, but if you didn't already have it, here's the direct number to Nikon Parts.

| ->> Thank you Kevin, I did not have it. I don't think it's too exspenive, just hope they can send it right away with football staring up. Appreciate it. |

->> Richard I've bought a few lens mounts from Nikon Parts simply by calling the number that Kevin provided above. If they have them in stock, the mounts are generally fairly cheap (like $30.00 + or -) They generally ship Ground but you can upgrade to Second-Day Air for a few extra bucks.
Also, I just swap them out myself as it's a pretty easy fix. Just don't mess with those tiny screws over carpet... you WILL drop at least one and if it falls into carpet it'll never be seen again. |

| ->> Sounds good to me Brian. Murphey's law showed up the week before I start football, practices, traing camp and then high school on Fridays, college Saturdays and NFL Sundays, leaves no time to send it in. I thought I could change it out myself, and will take heed to your advice about the screws. Thanks |

->> Richard, if Nikon does not have the mounts for that model in stock, I would give the guys at Midstate Camera Repair a call. They tend to be able to fix gear longer than Nikon or Canon will support it. (I'm not sure how old your Version 1 lens is but it may be out of Nikon's range)
If it really is just a matter of putting on a new mount, if you talk to them I'm sure they can give you very fast turnaround. |

| ->> George just talked to Nikon and lucky for me they had it in stock, and will ship today $38.00, it is an older version 2005, so I was concerned. I will keep Midstste's info. Since I bought a newer 70-200 I have an older one that needs to be rebuilt so I can sell it. In my area there is no local repair so I appreciate the contacts. Thanks |
