Sun Protection

->> I know its a tad late in the season for this, but I wanted to get an idea what everyone uses to keep themselves from being burnt to a crisp.

I was born and raised on the coast of Florida so I have had my fare share of different gimmicks for sun protection, and have compiled a list of my favorites.

Most of it is made for fishing, and that's how I came across some of it. As much as we are all out in the sun I think we should toss around some of our favorite anti crisping ideas. From hats, sunblock, and doo dads.

First off, Colombia gear is a savior. Their PFG (Performance Fishing Gear) shirts are very light weight, and still have a high SPF rating. Unknown to most, normal t shirts only have an spf rating of 5-15. So even if you have a t-shirt on you can get some bad rays.

Along with their shirts they have many other accessories, including hats, gloves and neck wraps, all very light weight, and still have a nice spf rating.

For sunblock, I have tried anything and everything out there mostly sticky and smelly. I have become very fond of Neutrogenas new line. Over time I have weeded out all my other brands and bottles. This is the only thing I use now, and swear by it.

Its not all about the sun, you have to stay hydrated while you're out there and one of the big names in the convenience section of drinking is Camelbak. They have many options, and I usually just throw one of their bladders in my backpack or waist pack.

Here are two older threads on the subject of hats and an umbrella.

So what is in your bag... and closet?
