->> Is Elinchrom the only company that implements the ability to remotely control their strobes ? I love their Skyport system since it allows you to control the power as well as on/off of individual strobes that are attached?
Thanks in advance... |

| ->> Nope I believe that Buff's new Commander/Einstein combo allow you to control individual strobes and build lighting schemes. |

->> Profoto also does and it works fantastic. I use it in the studio for the D1air monos and also on location with the AcuteB2 air units.
I have switched from Elinchrom to Profoto due to customer service. |

| ->> So the Profoto allows you to control the power of each individual strobe wirelessly from the camera? |

->> Delane, yes it does it can control up to 5 groups and adjust them individually.
I can control power, modeling light, on or standby and also control them all at once.
Hope that helps. |

->> I need to make this clear, the portable acuteB 600 air can only be fired with the remote, not power turned up or down.
All the D1 air monos can be controlled from remote location or pc just as if you were standing at the mono light.
Profoto has a batpack that will control a couple profoto d1 air units and this may be better for location work if you want the remote capability than the acuteb2 600's. |

->> I'm looking for a 3 light studio set-up, I have a ton of Elinchrom studio gear but I'm open to other brands. I'm going to mount a couple high up and run power to them but I need to be able to control them remotely.
Im looking for the ability to dial the power down low and maintain consistent color plus the ability to control them remotely. Portability is not an issue. |

->> Well if you need to power them off then Elinchrom Digital RX may be your best option. You can cute the power (un plug the cord or have receptacle on a switch) and plug it back in and all setting will be still good.
With Profoto, I can put them in standby from remote, but if I power them off by disconnecting the power when power is turned on again they have to be turned on at the light.
I have a few mounted in the ceiling and its not a problem, I just use a piece of 3/4 inch pvc pipe with an elbow and a cap and its easy to hit the power button from the floor. I then can control them from the camera the rest of the day, at the end of the day I just power them off either by killing the power, or same method of turning them on.
I like the remotes better than skyports so this step is worth it, but if your not having any issues with skyports nothing wrong with using the elinchrom Digital RX's They have constant color through out the power range.
I do not know of any remote that will actually power on and off the mono, this will have to be done through the plug.
Other option is a powe rpack that is near camera position with heads mounted on the ceiling. Then you can turn on and off, adjust power etc from one location. This is an expensive route though. |

->> It's ok if I need to physically get to them for power on/off...that would only be once per session.
The key is being able to adjust them from my shooting position...as long as I can keep a group (i.e. light) from firing via the remote that's all I need.
Regardless...it sounds like my options are Elinchrom, Profoto and the Einstein from Paul C. Buff. So it makes sense for me to continue with Elinchrom investment with a few of their BXRi 250's.
Thanks for the help here guys.
