Indy 500 Behind The Scenes - Todd Rosenberg's SI photo shoot

->> SportsShooter member Todd Rosenberg did a cool assignment for SI - shooting photos of historic cars that won the Indy 500. To pull this off he had to rent a gigantic Chimera softbox (that was bigger than the cars), and it took 7 hours to set up with 3 assistants.

Very cool time lapse video of the entire process...

I interviewed him via Skype about the assignment.

What's the largest softbox you've ever used?

->> Biggest that I used regularly was at the commercial studio I worked at for 10 years. It was custom and was 18ft x 24ft. It had 15 x 1000 watt mole nook lights configured in 3 rows of 5. Each corner was on a separate pulley so the box could be dropped as needed. It hung over a cyc cove and it was a lot of fun!

->> Very cool! I loved when Todd ask the grip what the difference was between the two softboxes and the guy responded: "Four hours".

PRETTY light :)
