->> I've been using a Sekonic L358 light meter with the Pocketwizard chip inside for years. The pocketwizard compatibility is very convenient.
Since I've been using the Elinchrom Qaurda Ranger I've become a big fan of their Skyport wireless system...and it seems that the only thing missing from elinchrom is the ability to be fired from the Sekonic. Am I missing a way around this limitation?
I want to be able to fire the elinchrom Quarda and get alight reading using my sekonic meter...
Maybe I could connect this to the L358 and use the meter in corded flash mode.

Has anyone done this?
I could also keep an extra Skyport transmitter off camera, along with the light meter...that's an option. Not elegant...but an option. Just looking to make it as easy as possible and minimize the # of pieces of gear if possible.
Thanks in advance!

->> You can use the L358 with any wireless trigger system ... by selecting the the just to left of the mode used for PW's (don't have my meter with me or the manual handy for the correct terminology)
In this mode you trigger the meter, then use your Skyport transmitter to trigger the light(s) ... this mode allows for a delay in the flash firing, yet stays at the ready momentarily to read the flash output.
Secondly, you could trigger the light and/or the transmitter by connecting a pc cord directly to the meter ... |

->> That should be "by selecting the Mode just to the left"
*** Geee ... I wish we could an edit function on this board, especially considering it is easy to make a typo on a smartphone keyboard *** |

| ->> I use an old L-328 Sekonic with the Elinchrom Skyports all of the time using the cable and the cabled flash mode. Works very well, not as elegant looking but very reliable. |

->> Thanks Neil and Butch.
Definitely not elegant and adds he'd another cable to the bag but it could be worse.

->> Delane, you don't need a cable.
Just set your meter to read flashlight and hit the "meter" button. The flash icon starts to blink. Then simply fire your flashes using the "test" button on the skyport sender. The meter will "see" the flash and meter. No need to hook up the sender to the meter. Just leave it on the camera or hold it on your hand. |

->> (Wow...I just read my post...I have no ide where the word "he'd' come from. Weird.)
Anyway...thanks Bastian. That works like a charm. I've been shooting with the camera on a tripod so I'll keep it in my hand or figure out a way to wear it around my neck or something... |
