->> Evidently you can face serious jail time and fines for posting offensive images online in Tennessee, due to the state's newest legislation.
http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2011/06/tenn-law-bans-posting-image...
" ... legislation adds images to the list of communications that can trigger criminal liability. But for image postings, the "emotionally distressed" individual need not be the intended recipient. Anyone who sees the image is a potential victim. If a court decides you "should have known" that an image you posted would be upsetting to someone who sees it, you could face months in prison and thousands of dollars in fines."
So if you're traveling through Tennessee, make sure to pack a file in your camera bag. |

| ->> What happens if, while living in Arizona, I post a photo online that somebody in Tennessee finds upsetting. Does that mean I can be extradited to Tennessee to face prosecution? |

->> Since any reasonable person is aware that there is a massive spectrum of potential viewers to anything posted on the Web, then that reasonable person is also aware that ANYTHING is likely to cause emotional distress to SOMEBODY. That means that, under Tennessee law, the only prudent way to remain legally safe is to post NOTHING.
What is with these people?

The words "morons" and "idiots" are my first thought. |

->> Now Chuck, paintinl all Tenneseans as morons and idiots is using a fairly broad brush... They also distill my personal choice of whisky in Lynchburg, and some fine music comes from Memphis.
These two, however; Rep. Charles Curtiss and Gov. Bill Haslam, seem to be worthy of particular attention for sponsoring and signing a bit of legislation that would seem to be unconstitutional |

->> Michael - Only if you look like you're from Tennessee, then AZ police will ask for your papers. You can be sent back if you have "Rocky Top" on your iPod, wear orange, or have a picture of Pat Summitt in your wallet. Otherwise, you're safe.
That's the beauty of our 50 states. We all have our own ways of enshrining our idiocy in law.
Mark, has fear of circumcision spread to San Jose yet?
And Chuck...your state has a "crimes against nature" law just like mine. Case closed on morons. |

->> My favorite American author Mark Twain said it best:
"Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of congress ... but I repeat myself."
It doesn't even have to apply to Congressman... :P
