->> I think that the old line was delivered best by Johnny Carson "how hot was it"?
So hot that my Nikon SB-900 overheated and shut itself down.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? |

->> Everyone I know that has an SB900 has experienced this. The flash's built in thermal protector seems to err on the side of caution, and shuts it down.

->> It could have been worse. Your post could have read "Oh @#$# I just burned up a $500 SB-900!!"

->> I turn off the beeps and over heat alarm. Otherwise it shuts off in the middle of every shoot I've been on on. Other than that...pretty A-OK

->> Were you using the SD-9 with it? Like most I had the 900 overheat soon after I started using it. I turned off the thermal warning and also started using the SD-9. Haven't ran into the issue sense. Also get faster recycle time with the battery pack.

->> I still use the SB800 and have never had the issue described here. It's been a real workhorse. I looked at the 900 and it's just enormous. And now I learn of the overheating problem. Stick with the 800, problem solved before it starts.
