->> ->> Got a new camera strap, the Crumpler Industry Disgrace, that I thought I'd let everyone know about if you're ready for a new strap. Was going to add this to the gear list but can't figure how to do it with my iPod browser, can't find the add link.
Anyway, I shredded the Domke I had on my MKIII. The rubber had worn off long ago and now the guts were starting to come out. Looking at straps, I just couldn't find anything I liked. I've got a Thinktank on another body, but I know the rubber will eventually wear off that one too.
Looking around online I found the Crumpler http://tinyurl.com/3z4kxvq. Little leery about ordering a strap online, I like to see the materials, manufacturing etc. And it's $35, a bit more than a standard strap. I took a chance and got it from Adorama.
Just used for the first time this weekend. I've had straps from Tamrac, Domke, Thinktank etc over 20+ years. The other one I had looked at was Skooba, and their aircell straps. Well they say if one of the aircells breaks the strap will function fine. Maybe just don't make it so the cell doesn't break in the first place.
The Crumpler has neoprene for a portion of it on your neck, and nylon for the other portions, plus good heavy thick nylon straps for the camera connections. Also it's got buckles for length adjustment. Best part is the contouring of the strap around your neck and down your shoulders. The MKIII has a little bit of heft to it, but I put the camera around my neck or over my shoulder with 28-70 or 70-200 it really is like there isn't a camera there.
I know some like the Sun Sniper straps and I considered those but only 40% of my assignments would really benefit from a setup like that. Many of my assignments, having the camera around the neck is the most convient, expedient method. So anyway if you're looking for a new strap..... |

->> Have to say I've relegated my Industry Disgrace to my infrared camera - which doesn't get heavy use. I've found it totally useless at staying put on your shoulder, which is where, by necessity, I carry my "serious" cameras. Around the neck, you are absolutely correct, it is very comfortable.
Domke Grippers with detachable straps are the ones I use when I need a camera on my shoulder. |

| ->> What is that in the promo image, a G12? Just a tad lighter than my Nikon D3 w/ 80-200 f2.8. Not knowing anything about this strap, I'd tend to agree w/ chuck, just based on experience slinging wide-neck straps over my shoulder and having them constantly sliding off. Don't know about this one personally. |
