Hi, Michael:
Canon Factory Service confirmed that the original EOS-1D reached end of service life as of 12/31/2010. They won't work on original 1D cameras anymore, but you might be able to have your camera repaired by:
TF Camera Repair (Attn: Toshio)
27 Brunswick Woods Drive
East Brunswick, NJ 08816-5601
Phone: 732-238-8806
Toshio is without doubt the best technician I know of for repairs on 1D cameras. |

A matter of opinion, but I've always found even
with a modified tone curve the original 1D files to be (tone wise) vastly inferior to even a Mk2's. I always compared it to looking like negs to slides.
Now colour me curious..... |

->> It's a sad day indeed. As with many on this board, the 1D was my first "pro" DSLR, and even 4-5 years outdated it worked beautifully for several years, multiple drops and repairs, and thousands of frames in bad conditions. I salute you, 1D. I still have a portfolio image shot at ISO 1000 on one of my 1D's.
There was nothing quite like being okay with no zoom review because your images were always in focus (it's hard not to be at 4mp, but still). |
