->> I took a group photo of a client at the Cardinals game the other night in between innings, sent the image from the camera to my iphone using the Eye-Fi app, and then texted the image to my client. It was easy and he was impressed.

->> Does anyone know if they will be making a CF card version of this?

I know there are adapters but I hears they do not work very well.

Any input would be great.

->> Shane, I think it is quite unlikely there will be a CF version of the Eye-Fi card ... While they actually have not come out and said no ... There seems to be a reluctance to invest the R&D for the CF format.

As they point out, CF card usage, while it is at or near 100% for professional photographers .... CF cards only comprise 5% of the total market ... And that percanate is dropping each year ... In fact many pro and semi-pro DSLR cameras are now offering both CF and SD slots ...

Not saying I agree with them, because I too would very much like to see a CF version ... But going purly by the numbers looking at the industry as a whole ... It may not be in their best interests to develop a CF version.

->> CF cards only receive power when the card is being written to. For the Eye-Fi card to transmit properly it would have to be receiving power at all times. This is why the CF card adapters are not recommended for the Eye-fi.

->> The Eye-Fi rep at WPPI this year spoke to me at length about CF adapters. He showed me one brand that they had tested and found to work. I've looked online, but can't find it.

The pic of it on my iphone doesn't show a product name, but it does say, "SDHC/SD Extreme CF Adapter". I've checked Adorama and B&H, but can't locate it.

Sadly, no CF is a deal-breaker for me...

->> The Eye-Fi Pro X2 will do RAW uploads ... fourth feature listed on the bullet points on the right side of the page ...

http://www.eye.fi/products/prox2

the other Eye-Fi cards will only do jpeg ...

There are many folks using the Eye-Fi with the CF card adapters ... though Eye-Fi doesn't officially support this method ... it can and does work though not all CF adapters work equally well ... as Rob Galbraith noted here, down near the bottom of the page there is a table of current popular DSLR cameras and potential solutions:
